New member training is a 100 hour commitment during the Spring semester. Training occurs on Saturday (7 hours) and on one weekday evening (3 hours) over the course of 10 weeks. Completion of training earns members three units of course credit from the University.
Trainees will learn extensive peer-counseling skills, join a community of passionate, empathetic students, become active members of the helpline, and be trained in a variety of topics, including but not limited to:
- Sexual assault
- Intersectionality and bias identification
- disordered eating
- confusing sexual experiences
- intimate partner violence
- self-harm
- suicide
- sexual harassment
- mental and sexual health
